Telephone

Most likely, you have a cellular phone. This is straightforward, and will likely be your only telephony communications. However, with an Internet connection, you would be able to acquire SIP/VOIP services. There are no RJ11 jacks in the residence. This is because Verizon who owns the POTS (Plain Ordinary Telephone Service) system is shutting down the network. They are not accepting customers who move, and they are not accepting new customers for POTS phone service. With that in mind, if you would have wanted a POTS like phone service, they would use a modem that would have RJ11 ports, and those ports will connect to your termination block.

With this in mind though, since POTS telephone service is obsolete, it does not make any sense to run telephone lines. Because of this, and the fact there is no termination block, you will not be able to user Verizon’s FiOS telephone service. You can acquire an ATA from another company. You would plug the phone into the ATA, and. the ATA will plug into the RJ45 jack throughout the residence. This means you can acquire an ATA, plug a DECT phone system in the ATA, and have cordless phones throughout the residence to answer a phone call. If this is something you would wish to do, you can acquire services from a number of providers. If you aren’t comfortable with setting up your ATA, then you would likely need a VOIP provider such as Ooma, or Vonage. You might have to buy the ATA. If this is the case, you would be stuck with a useable ATA if you decide the provider will not work out for you.
