Closed Cell Spray Foam insulation will be standard on the exterior walls of the building. This will have a very high R-Value, and the goal is to exceed minimum code by 50%. I also want that thermal break that spray foam provides. Spray foam insulation is mold, and fire resistant. It’s not hospitable to pests, and provides a high R-Value per inch of foam. Closed cell is more compact, and harder. This is what gives them the benefits that I am looking for. The perimeter of the unit will also have spray foam insulation to reduce the noise of any neighbors making an apartment a better option even for those that want privacy, and peace.
Interior walls will have padded foam insulation – mostly as a sound barrier. Also, some of the infrastructural lines will run through the interior walls. This is not anything special, and insulation is not required for the interior walls, but will still exist nonetheless.
